What You Will See in June
The Mountain at Its Most Beautiful
June is when Kilimanjaro transitions from its lush green wet-season state toward the dry-season brown. The combination of green moorland, icy summit snow, and clear skies makes for extraordinary photography. Waterfalls are still flowing from the wet season, and the air is crisp and dry.
Migration Building in Northern Serengeti
By late June, the Great Migration begins arriving in the northern Serengeti. Large herds gather near the Mara River, preparing for the famous crossings that will define July through October. June is when you start seeing the build-up โ thousands of animals concentrated in the north, building toward the spectacle.
Comfortable Safari Temperatures
June is the beginning of the comfortable safari season. The intense heat of the later dry months has not yet arrived. Daytime temperatures of 22โ27C are ideal for game drives. The cool mornings require a warm layer, but the midday temperatures are pleasant.
Empty Parks Compared to July-August
June is significantly less crowded than July or August. At Ngorongoro Crater, you may share the floor with only a handful of other vehicles rather than dozens. The Serengeti's central areas remain relatively quiet until the school holidays begin in late June to early July.
